Karen Ann Pupillo, 65, passed away on February 16th, 2022 at home with her family in Tempe, Arizona. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 15th, 1956 to Edward and Vera Bowman. She was the oldest of four children and spent the majority of her life living in Commack, New York. There she met her husband, Thomas Pupillo and the two were married on October 12th, 1985. They later had their first child, Daniel, in 1988. The family later moved to Scottsdale, Arizona where they had a daughter, Katherine, in 1992. Karen was an Oncology nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 27 years where she met many long time friends and colleagues. In 2011, while working at St. Joe’s, she went back to school and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Grand Canyon University.
Karen was a fun loving woman who valued spending time with her family and friends. She loved the beach, a strong cup of coffee, and watching scary movies. She dedicated her life to caring for others and had a unique ability to stay positive even in the hardest of times. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to many.
Karen is preceded in death by her husband Tom and her parents Ed and Vera. She is survived by her son Danny and his wife Jean, daughter Katherine and her fiancé Brad, granddaughter Sloane, sisters Jill and Holly, brother Keith, her seven nieces and nephews, and her dog Petey. Our lives will be much less vibrant without Karen in it, but we are comforted in knowing that she is reunited with her soulmate, Tom.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 10:00 am at Green Acres Mortuary in Scottsdale, Arizona. There will be a reception immediately following the service at the home of Katherine Pupillo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation in Karen's name can be made to either American Cancer Society or the ASPCA.
The family would like to thank Wings of Hope Hospice for their support and care of Karen.
