

Karl S. Weaver, 83 of Tempe, AZ passed away peacefully to be with our heavenly Father on April 14, 2013. Karl was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Karl was born on June 1, 1929 in Greenwich Ohio, the fourth son of Kent S. and Mary V. (Henderson) Weaver. He was preceded in death by his parents Kent and Mary, brothers William Weaver and Paul Weaver. After graduating from high school Karl enlisted in the US Army, serving his country proudly for 24 years retiring at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer–4. While serving on his initial tour in Germany he met the love of his life, Sonja Sippel, they married and began their journey through life together. During his distinguished military career that included three tours of Vietnam, Karl was awarded the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, numerous service and commendations medals, and the Army Parachute Badge. Karl continued his education while on active duty working on a law diploma through night and extension courses. After retiring from the Army in 1972, he began a second career working for Motorola in Scottsdale AZ till 1993. It was during this time Karl became very actively involved with his other love, his Church, the New Apostolic Church. Working tirelessly, Karl served as an ordained minister for his church for over 15 dedicated years serving our Heavenly Father and helping those in need. It was some health issues in 1993 that forced Karl to slow down and enter full retirement. He continued serving his church in other capacities till his death. Karl is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years Sonja; son Edward (Karen) Weaver, daughter Pamela Weaver, granddaughters Angela Weaver, and Christina (Matt) Stone, brothers Howard (Maxine) Weaver, and Robert (Sammee) Weaver and numerous nieces and nephews. Karl will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know and love him. The family would like to express our deepest thank you for the compassion and care Karl received from the staff of Friendship Village (Hospice of the Valley) in Tempe during his last few days, especially Jen, Rochelle and Krag. Visitation will be held from 3 – 6 PM Sunday April 21 at Green Acres Mortuary with the funeral service with full military honors being held at 1200 noon, Monday April 22 at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale AZ.
