Kim was an amazing woman who lived her life in the service of others. She worked in the family grocery business for several years and served in the U.S. Army. She was an educator for 20 years at the elementary and collegiate level. During her later years of teaching, she started volunteering work at Hospice of the Valley. She so loved that work that she started nursing school in her late forties. Kim attended classes while teaching full time and later working full time at hospice. She graduated in August 2018 as the recipient of the school's Florence Nightingale Award for Excellence, and had recently started as a neuro-trauma nurse at Banner University Hospital in Phoenix.
Kim had a lifelong love of learning and had two bachelor's degrees, two master's degrees and numerous professional certifications, including certified public accountant and Realtor.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Corky, son Chris, daughter Julia, stepson Derek, mother Linda Barkdoll and stepfather Phillip, sisters Lori Link, Susie Jordan, Debi (Mike) Luty and Wanda Barkdoll, sister-in-law Kim Hickey, and brothers Jason (Karrie) Barkdoll, Steve Barkdoll, and Jeff (Brenda) Barkdoll.
Kim leaves a giant hole in our hearts that will never be completely filled. In lieu of flowers or donations, she would want you to hug your family and friends and tell them how much you love them.
