

Lita Louise Delgado-McCollum, age 56, passed away Monday, February 22nd, 2016, after an unexpectedly short fight against lung cancer surrounded by her family. She was born on January 29th 1960 in Sterling, Illinois. Lita attended Sterling High School and graduated the Class of 1978. She went on to attend Arizona State University, where she discovered her passion for origination, and love for the State of Arizona where on December 27th, 1997, she married John McCollum and together, they had five sons.
Lita was a Residential Mortgage Originator, where she made lifelong relationships with many co-workers and business partners. With over 30 years of experience, Lita worked for many lenders including Carl I. Brown & Co., Mortgage Capital Resource, Bell America, Eagle Home Mortgage, Prospect Mortgage, and joining Primary Residential Mortgage in April 2015.
Lita and John enjoyed traveling together as well as spending time with family and friends. Amongst other roles, Lita served as a merit badge counselor in Boy Scout Troop 278, where she was able to help young men work to achieve their Eagle Scout and learn more about their life’s passions. She also spent a great amount of time counseling expecting mothers through various organizations. Lita’s special interests and hobbies included volunteering, cooking, baking, hiking, and political activism.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 19 years, John; sons Ben (34), Joey (31), John Luke (21), Seth (17), and Stephen (14), in addition to her daughter-in-laws Michelle & Emily, three grandchildren, and countless nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 6:00 pm at Mountain Park Community Church, 2408 E Pecos Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85048. The family will greet friends at the church on Tuesday from 4:00 pm until the time of service.
