Lois, born on October 28th, 1926, to Glen and Mildred Triplett of St. Mary’s, West Virginia, the eldest of two children. Lois grew up in St. Mary’s where she enjoyed all the wonderful things a small town has to offer. She suffered from terrible allergies through three years of high school, so her parents sent her to the dry climate of Phoenix, Arizona where she spent her senior year and graduated from North High. After graduating from high school, Lois went on to pursue a degree in education at Fairfax Hall a junior college in Waynesboro, Virginia. After two years at Fairfax, she transferred to the University of Miami, where she met the love of her life, William Morton DuPree. Morton was a Marine aviator, WWII veteran and law student at the University of Miami. The two were inseparable from that point on. Lois and Morton were married on November 3rd, 1947. Their 57-year marriage continued until Morton's death in 2004. They had three children, Melinda (Lindy), David and Mildred (Millie) Oakeson.
Lois was a fiercely dedicated mother to her children. Family came first and was above all else to Lois, a value she instilled in all those around her. She was an avid reader, knitter, artist, seamstress and gourmet cook. She loved music and the Scotty pups they had through the years. When Lois’s youngest child was school age, she went back to school to finish her degree. She graduated magna cum laude from Arizona State University in 1965.
Lois is predeceased by her parents Glen and Mildred Triplett, husband William Morton DuPree and her sister, Sarah. She is survived by her three children, Melinda DuPree; David DuPree (Nancy); Mildred (Millie) Oakeson (Robert); three granddaughters; Amy Hughes (Joshua); Jennifer McCabe (Matthew); Emily Otto and nine great-grandchildren.
