Mary Aliene (Andrews) Bockelman, age 79, passed away peacefully in Scottsdale, Arizona on March 16, 2026.
Mary was born in September 1946 near Burlington, Oklahoma, to Don and Vera Andrews. She grew up in Newkirk, Oklahoma, where she was a cheerleader at Newkirk High School and spent many hours helping at her parents’ pharmacy—scooping ice cream and pouring sodas for customers at the soda fountain. Those early years in Newkirk helped shape the warmth, friendliness, and generosity that would characterize her throughout her life.
After graduating from high school, Mary attended Northwestern State College (Oklahoma) where she earned a degree in Speech Pathology. She later enjoyed a career as a flight attendant for Trans World Airlines (TWA), a role that allowed her to travel widely and meet people from many walks of life. Mary devoted herself to her home and family and was deeply involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
Mary and her husband Fred shared 55 years of marriage and built a life together in several states, including California, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, and Arizona. Wherever they lived, Mary invested herself in friendships and community. She was an active member of P.E.O., and she treasured the fellowship and service opportunities it provided.
Mary was a committed Christian who came to faith as a young girl. Her life was marked by love, grace, and generosity. Her faith shaped the way she cared for others, and she was known for her warmth, encouragement, and deep devotion to family.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband, Fred Bockelman and her son John Bockelman and his wife Wendy, of McKinney, Texas, and their children Gerrit, Caiya, and Leyna; and by her daughter Julie Walle and her husband Jason, of Cave Creek, Arizona, and their children Andrew and Hannah.
She is also survived by her loving step-children and their families: David Bockelman and his wife Pat of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and their daughter Sarah Bockelman; Diane Ray and her husband Don of Larkspur, Colorado, their children Melissa Brown, Curtis Ray, and Catherine Joseph, and Melissa’s children Charlotte and Kacey;
and Kris Revelle and her husband Bill of Custer, South Dakota, and their children Will, Allison, and Emily.
Mary is also survived by her siblings: Victor Andrews and his wife Jen of Ponca City, Oklahoma; Sayra LeBaron and her husband Jim of Tavares, Florida; and Donnie Andrews and his wife Jennifer of Daytona Beach, Florida.
A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2026, in the Chapel at Scottsdale Bible Church in Scottsdale, Arizona. Mary is interred at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
The family was so blessed by the loving care Mary received at the Eckstein Center of Hospice of Valley, they encourage those so led to consider a donation in Mary's name (https://hov.org/donate/donate-now/)
Mary will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. Her passing on 3/16 will also serve as a lasting reminder to her family and friends of the words of John 3:16, a verse that reflects the hope that shaped her faith:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, ESV)
Her life reflected that love and grace, and her legacy continues through the family she cherished.
