

Nettie Lee Welch, 96, of Phoenix, Arizona, went home to the Lord on Friday, November 1, 2024. Nettie was born in Spiro, Oklahoma on March 7, 1928 to Henry Palestine and Martha Malissie Barnes. The family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1937. She graduated in 1946 from Phoenix Union High School and married in 1947. Nettie was a homemaker who loved to craft, enjoyed making a beautiful home for her family and spent many hours in her garden tending her rose bushes and many other flowers. She was an excellent seamstress and in her later years she worked as a seamstress in a tailor shop in downtown Scottsdale. Nettie loved the Desert Botanical Gardens and volunteered in the gift shop for 25 years. She also volunteered as an election poll worker for many years. Nettie is survived by her son Ted L. Welch II (Margaret), daughter Roxie L. Panza, son Stuart A. Welch, and son Kevin D. Welch, her beloved grandchildren, Dean Panza, Monica Berger, Wendy Agunzo and Tyrel Welch. Nettie was blessed with 8 beautiful great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Earline Dillion, Glorice Reed, Catherine Tharp and many extended family members whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her husband, Ted L. Welch, her granddaughter, Sandra Kay Welch, and her brothers , Carlson, J.R. and Clendon Barnes. A “Celebration of Life” will be held in her honor on Saturday, November 9th, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 N Hayden Rd. Scottsdale, AZ 85257.
