

Ramon Alfred Morano, 93, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully at his home June 30, 2022 with Gay Samuelson by his side. He was born in Richmond, Virginia on November 25, 1928 the son of Paul Bernard Morano and Mabel Virginia Morano. Ramon graduated from Saint Benedictine Catholic School. He received a B.S. from the University of Richmond. Upon continuing his education, he earned a Master of Science degree in Toxicology from the Medical College of Virginia.
After graduating from college, Ramon served two years in the Army and then started his career at the Medical Examiner Office in Norfolk, Virginia. Ramon moved to Phoenix in 1973 and continued his career as Chief Toxicologist at the Maricopa County Medical Examiner Office.
He had a passion for the challenging, investigative work of Forensic Science. Over the years, he was involved in solving many unusual, mysterious cases. Ramon had a love of history and an interest in other cultures starting at a young age. One of Ramon’s earliest hobbies was collecting stamps. His “Pop” gave him a stamp album which he filled with many unique stamps. Ramon traveled extensively enjoying many cruises and he set foot on EVERY continent. Ramon also found contentment in the simple pleasures in life-his pipe, crossword puzzles, reading, his Subway sandwiches, swimming and soaking up the Arizona sun. He was an avid sports fan and loved his Phoenix Suns, Arizona Cardinals and Diamondbacks.
He is survived by Gay Samuelson and daughters Holly (husband Chris) and Vanessa, daughter Donna and son Mark (wife Sandra) from a previous marriage, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A funeral service for Ramon will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery, 401 N Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Arizona.
