Raymond Glenn Hurley passed away on March 9, 2025, in Litchfield Park, Arizona. Born on December 27, 1948, in Salinas, California, Ray lived a life marked by service, adventure, and deep devotion to family.
Ray proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army’s 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. His bravery and dedication were recognized with the awarding of the Bronze Star—an honor that reflected his courage and commitment during a challenging time in our nation’s history.
After his military service, Ray attended Hartnell Community College and worked in the agricultural industry traveling between California and Arizona. He had a deep love for classic cars and could often be found riding his Harley on open roads. A true enthusiast of American culture, he enjoyed watching westerns and war movies, especially those featuring John Wayne or Elvis Presley. History fascinated him, and he was always eager to learn more about the past.
Ray was an active member of his local American Legion and Moose Lodge. He also found joy in playing golf, swimming, going to the movies, and spending time with his beloved dogs. Above all else, Ray cherished moments spent with his grandchildren—Mariah, Gage, Jayda, and Marc—who brought immense joy into his life.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Toni (Travis) Caffarelli; son Scott Hurley; grandchildren Mariah, Gage, Jayda, and Marc; brothers Gary Hurley, Ernie (Stacey) Bryan, John (Theresa) Hurley, Garry (Terri) Rowe; sister Judy Hurley-Massolo; and friend and former wife Maria Martinez—the mother of his daughter Toni. Ray was preceded in death by his mother Imogene Bryan and father JD Hurley.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the family home located at 19785 W Lincoln St., Buckeye, Arizona 85326. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather in remembrance of Ray’s remarkable life. Ray preferred a casual gathering, so please dress in comfortable attire that feels right for a relaxed celebration of his memory.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the care team at the Phoenix VA and Eternity Hospice for their compassionate support. Special gratitude is also given to the staff at Villa Serene Assisted Living for their kindness and dedicated care.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Ray’s memory are encouraged to make a donation to a veterans’ charity of their choice.
May Raymond Glenn Hurley’s memory bring comfort and strength to all who knew him.
