Born in Campbellsport, Wisconsin to Mathias and Marie (Mamie) (Berg) Schlaefer, Rose was the youngest of 8 children. She married the love of her life, William Dreyer—known fondly as “Willie”—and together they raised five children: Celia (Paul) Carr, Joseph Dreyer, Jerome (Jenise) Dreyer, Louise (Aquilino) Naldo, and John (Weimei Luo) Dreyer. Her family grew to include 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply.
Rose’s life was a testament to service, compassion, and joy. She crocheted countless blankets (afghans) for the Christ Child Society, delivered meals through Meals on Wheels for over 20 years, supported Sun Sounds of Arizona for more than 35 years, and volunteered with Duet to assist the homebound elderly. Her generosity extended far beyond her family, touching countless lives in her community.
Music was the melody of Rose’s soul. From children’s songs to classical harmonies, she found joy in every note. As a member of the Sweet Adelines, she sang in four-part harmony, sharing her voice and spirit with others. Her love of music was matched only by her love of people—she was a friend to all, always ready with a smile, a song, or a helping hand.
Rose’s faith was central to her life. A devoted member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Scottsdale, Arizona, she found strength and purpose in her spiritual community.
She lived a good life—full of love, service, and song. And as she often reminded us with a smile, she was 94.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 1 at 11AM at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery at 401 Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, AZ.
A funeral mass will be held Monday November 3 at 10AM at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church: 6261 N. Granite Reef Road.
