

Shirley Ann Dekiere, 86, passed away peacefully on Feb. 10, 2015. Shirley was born April 19, 1928 in New Baltimore, MI to Frederick F. and Anne M. Schultz. In 1948, she married the love of her life, Wallace E. Dekiere, becoming the talk of the town when she carried long-stemmed red roses as her bridal bouquet. They moved to Scottsdale in 1960 and then settled in Mesa in 1982 following retirement. She was a licensed cosmetologist, but those who knew Shirley understood her true joy was in her home as a devoted Wife, Mother and Grandma. Known for her sassy attitude and hilarious take on life, Shirley was a passionate sports fan, especially the Arizona Wildcats, Cardinals and Diamondbacks. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Wallace; brother Robert L. Schultz and son-in-law Errol "Rusty" Hawkins. She is survived by her daughter Cherie A. Hawkins of Phoenix, grandchildren Jeffrey C. Hawkins (Katharine Hayes) of New York City; Jill Hawkins Johnson (son-in-law Bradley Johnson), great-grandson Wren Hawkins Johnson of Phoenix and sister-in-law Jan Schultz of Prescott Valley, The family is grateful to the loving staff of Classic Assisted Living and Reflections Hospice.
