Born on September 14, 1946 in Los Angeles, California to Ted and Evelyn Dilley, Steve lived a life rooted in devotion to family, friendship, and the simple joys that made every day meaningful. He graduated from Millikan High School in Long Beach and subsequently served in the U.S. Air Force from 1965–1969. Steve built a successful career in Information Technology, working in software development and computer programming, and later serving as an MIS Manager.
He was respected for his intelligence, dedication, and problem-solving abilities throughout his professional life. In addition to his work in technology, Steve also shared his knowledge and passion for learning as a college instructor with the Gila River Indian Community, where he was appreciated for his creativity and commitment to helping others succeed.
Steve married the love of his life, Patti, in 1982, and together they built a loving family centered on loyalty, laughter, and support. He was a devoted husband and a proud father to his four sons: Mark, Michael, David, and Stevie. Nothing brought Steve greater happiness than being surrounded by his boys and the family he cherished so deeply.
Steve had a deep appreciation for the arts and the beauty of the world around him. He also enjoyed traveling, always eager to explore new places, meet new people, and capture meaningful moments and everyday scenes through his lens. In the last years of his life, Steve fulfilled his love of adventure by traveling around the world and splitting his time between California and Arizona, enjoying the places and people he loved most.
Steve will be remembered for his steady presence, his sense of humor, and the kindness he extended to everyone who knew him. Whether sharing stories, offering advice, discussing a favorite book or song, or simply enjoying time with loved ones, he made people feel welcome and valued.
His love for family was the foundation of his life, and his legacy lives on through the many memories he created with those closest to him. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Evelyn Dilley, and his grandson, Dylan Dilley. He is survived by his beloved wife Patti; son Mark (Kat); son Michael (Jasmine); son David; and son Stevie; along with his grandchildren Jackson, Finn, and Sophia. He is also survived by his adored sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Bill Trimmer, and his best friend John and his wife Tina Zikopoulos. John was like a brother to him. He also leaves behind extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were touched by his warmth, humor, and generosity.
Steve will be greatly missed for the love he shared, the life he embraced, and the deep devotion he had for his family.
