Yakima was born in Guatemala City, Central America, but spent most of his developing life in Chicago, Illinois before moving to Phoenix, Az three years ago for health reasons.
He went to Huron College in Huron, South Dakota on a basketball scholarship for one year. He transferred to Northeastern Illinois university also on a basketball scholarship.
Yakim's professional life is diverse. He was a middle manager in the food service industry, he was in national sales for a major pharmaceutical company and finally an independent general contractor in the housing industry.
He had a zest for life, was ambitious and had success at most of his endeavors.
His friends will remember him as generous, fun and outgoing.
Yakim is survived by his mother, father, sister, brother, son and his long time girlfriend
