Allan Keith Weber was God’s faithful servant and a pillar of strength to his family which extended to the members of West Seattle Christian Church. He passed away in his sleep in the early morning hours of February 2nd 2015 at Judson Park retirement community. He will be remembered for his gregarious nature of making everyone feel welcome in his home. Surviving family: Wife: Louise Weber Children: Dale Weber, Gary Weber, Kathy Salazar Grandchildren: Jason Weber, Kristy Lucas, Bryan Lucas, Ryan Weber, Tracy Weber, Amy Bordeaux and Rachael Salazar Great Grandchildren: Trinity Weber, Isabella Weber, Reidar Lucas, Donovan & Vance Abney and Sofia Horton Few people are aware that Allan was actually born in Little Rock, Arkansas though he spent most of his younger years in Kansas proper. He graduated from Salina High School in 1950 and attended Wichita State University. In 1952 he married Dorothy Schuchman and they remained married for 51 years until she passed away in 2003. From an early age he knew he wanted to be an aeronautical engineer. He earned his PE, professional engineering license, through correspondence and got a job with Boeing. In 1962 he was transferred to Seattle for a 6 month government contract. It was at this time that he began to identify himself as Allan while those who knew him in Kansas called him Keith. At the end of the assignment he was given the option to stay in Seattle, which he did. During his years at Boeing he worked on the X-20 Dyna-Soar project, 727, 737, 747, 757 airplanes and the lunar lander. Allan served West Seattle Christian Church in various capacities. He served as an elder for a number of years, sang in the choir and played an important role in the planning and development of the church expansion and multipurpose center. He also served as youth group leader for a time, taught the Pairs and Spares Sunday school class for many years, started the Bus Ministry to bring pick up kids and bring them to Sunday School in the 70’s and 80’s. It’s fair to say the church wouldn’t be what it is today without his dedication, leadership and vision. In his free time at home, gardening was a particular delight of his. He kept his hedges, which he called his soldiers, meticulously trimmed. The garden was a labor of love for Dorothy. He also kept himself healthy with a stringent diet and exercise routine that few people have the discipline to emulate. Upon his retirement from Boeing he continued an active lifestyle with morning coffee with friends at a local café, church meetings, exercise, tanning, gardening and spending time with friends and family. In his later years he remarried to Louise Halos and they continued an active role at Normandy Christian Church. After Allan suffered a stroke, he and Louise moved to Judson Park. Among other things he will be remembered for are his gift for story-telling, the playful lift of his eye-brows, wearing short shorts, and tickling children with his Bold Finger. He wore the titles of Patriarch and Gramps proudly and as we extol his virtues I’m sure that he is smirking up in heaven. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to heartministries.org.
