Cameron Jordan Robert Allsop was born April 14, 1983 to loving parents, Garth Judd Allsop and Peggy Kolash Allsop-Richard. He was the easiest and happiest of babies, always good-natured (unlike his sister!). Peggy thought she'd won the lottery. He was greeted by his adoring sister, Olivia, who was Cameron's lifelong cheerleader and devoted confidante. As a big sister Olivia took the role of Cameron's protector, always making sure he had what he needed. She never left him alone, even on the last day of his life.
Peggy remembers him as a ball of energy during his childhood years who loved playing outside. His sense of humor was obvious from an early age which meant he was always the class clown. Peggy's favorite moments with him were at the end of the day when he would lovingly snuggle and watch TV with her after dinner each night. He was bright from an early age, and was an exceptionally gifted artist. This trait he inherited from his father Garth. Later in life as Cameron welcomed his own children into the world, the bond with his stepfather Steve was strengthened. On a family cruise when Cameron was 11, they rarely saw him. Remnants from his BLT's delivered by room service let his family know he was still on board the ship. When they disembarked from the cruise the family was surprised at the number of people who shouted "Cameron--we'll miss you!" He always made friends easily much like his father Garth. Cameron focused on individual sports as a youth. Once he took up a sport he practiced relentlessly, refining his skills until he achieved excellence. He mastered skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding--and yes, even the unicycle his grandmother gave him!
Cameron liked to figure out how things worked and loved to tinker. He turned his hand to plumbing, construction, food service, and then back to construction work. Cameron's carpentry skills were valued when he found employment at SquarePeg Construction and he found the work extremely satisfying. He worked during the entire Covid quarantine and was valued for his fast and efficient work. His last and most loved job was working at Strawberry Lanes Bowling in Marysville. He used his wide range of skills to do anything from fixing the equipment to working in the kitchen. Here, Cameron renewed his interest in bowling, which he had enjoyed with his grandmother as a youth. This became his sport of choice and he relished sharing it with his children as well as participating on a league. This really became his happy place! In Cameron's later years he faced a number of hurdles and his family was always so proud of the way he would strive to overcome them.
Cameron's larger than life personality was his greatest asset, making him the life of every party. He never knew a stranger and his charisma melted the coldest of hearts. The family jokes that they could drop Cameron in the middle of a foreign country without a dime and he would not only survive but thrive! Everyone loved him--and more importantly, Cameron offered love without judgement to everyone. He didn't care if a person had any money, if they were riddled with problems or were friendless. He offered total acceptance and was comfortable with them. The family received flowers on Wednesday from a friend of Cameron's they didn't even know, but she said he taught her how to smile, and probably saved her life!
Of course Cameron became the favorite Uncle to his lucky nieces, lovingly calling them his sugar bears. He was so joyful about everything they did. Cameron adored his nieces. Cameron found joy in moments both big and small. Cameron loved his children, Lilly and Andre. Lilly inherited many of Cameron's positive qualities and has an affinity for the underdog--just like Cameron. Lilly is a strong advocate for those who are lost or down on their luck. Lilly and Cameron shared a love of scary movies, learning about crystals and their different energy properties. They both shared a love of music and had a similar sense of humor. Cameron was interested in what interested Lilly and listened to her as a valued friend. He and Andre loved bowling together, motorcycle riding, skateboarding, playing video games, and mastering martial arts all while sharing their deep love of all things pizza. Cameron was so proud of Andre's skills and accomplishments. Truly he was his children's biggest cheerleaders. Cameron formed memories that will last with Lilly and Andre forever.
