She was child #4 of 9 (8 girls, 1 boy) born to Catherine and Steve Day.
Cindy moved to Seattle, August of 1954, arriving by train from Chicago with her Mom, Great Aunt Hane and 3 older sisters. Earlier that summer, her Dad drove out west to start a new life for his growing young family. He, along with Cindy’s Grandparents, Lillian and Jack Bell, now retired from the Polack Brothers Circus, purchased the Holn-One-Donut Franchise of the Pacific N.W.
She grew up in the Lake City Neighborhood of Cedar Park, attended St. Matthew’s Catholic School and Nathan Hale High School, graduating in 1972. She loved the sun, swimming in the ocean and walking on the beach, so she moved to Redondo Beach soon after.
An active member of St. James Catholic Church, she volunteered her time on the Funeral reception committee. What she excelled at and made her happiest, was gathering her church friends to make lunch, 3 times a week, for the less fortunate in Redondo; they also collected clothes and blankets from parishioners. She partnered with Starbucks and Whole Foods for donations to create healthy meals. Her holiday parties at St. James were very popular. She served in this ministry for 20 plus years.
Cindy often returned to Seattle, always for Christmas, staying through New Year’s to attend her sister Andrea’s famous New Year’s Eve Parties and New Year’s Day dinner at Snappy Dragon.
She loved her nieces and nephew and was very proud of their many talents and accomplishments.
Cindy’s Celebration of Life will be held at noon on Saturday, 7-31-2021 followed by burial and reception, all at Acacia Funeral Home.
