These are just some of the many words that describe Diane who was a ‘one of a kind’. Her spark of energy was a delight to all as she made a warm, inclusive home for her husband, Steve, and all her babies – Bella, Simba, and Kaya. Diane was a generous and caring soul who went out of her way to do things for others. She was an accomplished cook, baker and cake decorator. She loved making artistic flower bouquets and her gardening endeavors were legend …..weeds never stood a chance! Her passion in her yard also extended to taking care of all the visiting birds who stayed year round. Some of her favorite moments were spending time in her back yard with Steve, Simba and Kaya – enjoying her gardens that bloomed all year long, watching hummingbirds take baths in the fountain and watching Kaya play ‘Bird’.
Diane looked forward to the various holidays and loved to decorate. Her most favorite was Halloween and she started putting up decorations at the beginning of September and kept them up until November, which was then time for Thanksgiving. Each room in the house was dressed up to capture the spirit of every holiday. And she loved getting the perfect gifts for people – she would spend hours thinking and talking about what to get –“do you think Steve would like this” – and then going on the hunt. And my oh my was she creative! She made beautiful throws and blankets for family, and even made shawls to give away to people at her Mom’s assisted living home.
Above all, Diane was tenacious and a fighter. After the shock of learning about the cancer, she decided she was going to beat it and did everything in her power to stay ahead of it. She walked multiple miles almost every day, changed her diet as needed and was relentless in researching and fighting the disease. Diane loved her husband, family and friends, and adored her babies …..and lived every day to its fullest and found joy in whatever she did.
We will always love you …..Rest in Peace.
