Gene graduated from Chief Sealth High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington Foster School of Business. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Ranger (CV-61) as an Aviation Electronics Radar Technician (ATR-2), achieving the rank of second-class petty officer.
Following his military service, Gene built a long career with AT&T, where he worked for twenty years in the computer data department. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Post Commander of American Legion Post #160. In his youth, Gene was a Boy Scout, an altar boy, and a member of a baseball league. Throughout his life, he remained an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed golfing with his father and closely followed the Seattle SuperSonics, University of Washington women’s basketball, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Seattle Mariners. For twenty-five years, he was a devoted season ticket holder for the Seattle Storm and could always be counted on to share the latest team statistics.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert. He is survived by his loving sisters, Margie (Rod), Ann (John), and Mary (Bill); his nephews, Jason (Wendy) and John (Lauren); his nieces, Gina, Michelle (Teddy), Jennifer (Scott), Melissa, and Jacqueline; his great-nephews, Logan, Colin, Robert, James, Jules, Jiano, and Jack; and his great-niece, Vivian.
He will be interred at Forest Lawn Mausoleum.
May he rest in the peace of Christ, and may perpetual light shine upon him.
