Evan was someone others could count on—steady, giving, and thoughtful in the ways that mattered most. He had a quiet way of making people feel seen and supported, and his presence brought comfort to those who knew him. Evan gave freely of himself, always willing to help, listen, or simply be there.
He found joy in life’s simple moments—spending time with those he loved, sharing stories, and gathering with family and friends. One of the ways Evan expressed care was through cooking and sharing meals, something many will remember fondly, but it was his heart behind those moments that mattered most.
Evan will be remembered for his warmth, his generosity, and the love he poured into others. His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his impact will live on through the memories and relationships he leaves behind. Life is hard, but we know things are certainly calmer for him, and no doubt he feels relief from his earthly struggles. He had great love for the Savior and a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Evan is survived by his son, Kemper Estes, and his daughter, Pepper Estes, his parents, Stella & Mike Nichols, his siblings, Bobbie Butler, JoAnn (Aaron) Austin, Blu (Yvonne) Estes, Stephen (Chelsee) Nichols & Daniel (Darlene) Nichols. His father, William James Estes, preceded him in death.
A celebration of Evan’s life will be held on Saturday December 27, 2025 at 1:PM. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 6310 114th Street, Lubbock, Texas
