Our dear Lovey died August 23, 2025 at the Evergreen Hospice in Kirkland, Washington. Gil was born November 4, 1944 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Celeste and Gilbert Gordon. After serving in the US Airforce, Gil traveled out to Seattle and began his tailoring career. After school at Seattle Central Community College he worked at Frederick & Nelson and continued sewing for many folks well into his 70s. After his time with Frederick & Nelson he went to work with Seattle City Light as a friendly meter reader and retired as a supervisor.
A founding member of Emerald City Metropolitan Community Church Seattle, Gil had a mighty faith in God and Jesus or should we say “Jeeeezus”. Over the years he served in many capacities and many folks will remember him greeting them with a “lovey” or “bubie” as they walked into services. For everyone who thought him an extrovert, he considered himself one who needed time by himself, usually in his own home.
Preceded in death by his parents and partner, Roger Lund, Gil was looking forward to reuniting with them in heaven and was ready to go.
We will gather to celebrate Gil’s life on Saturday, September 20, 2025 – 2:00 PM at Acacia Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
He made an immeasurable impact on the lives of everyone he touched for the good and we will miss him dearly. Please share your memories of him here.
