“And He will raise you up on eagles’ wings…and Hold you in the palm of His Hand.” With these tenants in play, longtime Seattleite Helen Champoux-Hogan passed away on July 31, 2017 at the age of 86. One of four children born to Samuel & Iva May Watson in Ontario, Canada, she moved to Seattle and established her life, love and home. She attended Highline High School and in 1947, married (the late) Elden R. Champoux. They were long time parishioners of Holy Family Catholic Church where Helen was deeply involved in parish life. Together, they raised nine children. She began a career in retail, working at The Bon and continued for many years as cosmetic manager at Nordstrom. She left there to start her own specialty advertising business. In 1981, she married Donald A. Hogan, who proceeded her in death. Surrounded by her loved ones, she passed into the embrace of her Lord after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was one of a kind, effervescent and vibrant with a contagious joy and a love of life. Her radiant beauty was only surpassed by her generosity, authenticity, courage and humor. Although she loved travel, the Arts, our Seahawks, Huskies and boating, her passion was golf. She and Don were long time members of Rainier Golf & CC. She is survived by her brothers, Robert Watson and Terry Parker and sister Joann Lakey. Also surviving are children Susan (Larry Norton), Burnice (Michael Vena), Thomas (Linda), Therese, Michelle, Renee (Dale Hoffman), Denise (Guy Hawk), Joseph (Marshell), step children Greg Hogan (Pam), Dawn Marie Hogan (Hans), and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her daughter Annette (Michael Markarian). The family would like to express their deep appreciation for our mother’s gentle and loving care by Adina Puravet and her staff. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, White Center, at 11.30 am August 10th followed by a burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Reception for friends and family at Rainier Country Club, 2-6pm Donations in Helen’s name can be made to Alzheimer’s Research.
