It is with great sadness that we note the passing of our Mother, Jeri. She passed away under hospice care at Briarwood Health Center in Issaquah, WA, due to complications from open heart surgery. Born in Spokane, WA, she is survived by her brother, Frank Wells (Colleen) of Bremerton, her daughters Linda Suddock (George), and Renee Evans of Mercer Island, her two sons Ken Evans (Judy) of Bellevue WA, and Gary Zornes (Joanne) of Las Vegas, NV, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In her early years she worked various jobs at bowling alleys, nightclubs, local bars, the Seattle World's Fair, and Laurelon Terrace Apartments. She made many lifelong friends during these years. She put all her past experience together when she became the owner and operator of the Wheelers/Blue Collar Saloon, located at the foot of Dravus Street on Magnolia. The neighborhood bar was very popular and her customers were like extended family. There were weekly potluck gatherings and many people choose to celebrate their birthdays, anniversaries, events in their lives, and marriages there. The walls were filled with photos of customers and their children, along with the many softball and lacrosse teams she sponsored over the years. The bar was also a favorite with the crew of the Coast Guard breakers "Polar Sea" and "Polar Star". People came not only to meet their friends and play a game of darts or pool, but also to see "Mom". She had a talent for making everyone feel special. In honor of Jeri's request there will be no memorial service held. Donations may be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org. If you would like to contact the family, you may do so at [email protected].
