

John Frederick Cornett, Jr was born April 2, 1932 and passed away on May 26, 2025. His parents were John Frederick Cornett, Sr and Helen Cornett. John had a sister named Donna who later married Jerry Chase Sr. They had three children- Jerry, John, and Jim. John served in the US Army during the Korean War at US Eastern Division Headquarters in Japan from 1952 through 1954 separating from the army as a Corporal. He served an additional 4 years in the Army Reserve. John worked for Westinghouse servicing elevators for a year followed by employment with the Boeing Company where he worked as a tool room clerk, later becoming a tool follow-up manager. John retired after 33 years at Boeing after his mother’s death. He spent time in Hawaii, in the island of Maui. Later buying a home there which ended up being a rental. He bought vacation property at Hood Canal where his three nephews grew up there fishing and swimming in the summers. He also took his nephews on various trips to California, Canada, and Hawaii. He never married saying he couldn’t find anyone like his sister. His sister, Donna, was very special to him. He also helped Donna and Jerry Sr with buying retirement property where they had a home in Sequim. Also buying a house for them in Puyallup where they lived for a short time. He was always there to help. John lived in a home that he paid off in Burien from 1968 through 2019. We talked him into selling his home because he was unable to live alone. He lived in Silvercreek Assisted Living until he developed Dementia and had to move into Fieldstone Memory Care for the last few months of his life. John enjoyed working in his yard and took pride in his house. He loved to travel. Enjoyed quality time with his family. He enjoyed birthdays, holidays, and meals with the family. He also had a love for dogs. He was a loving person and respected by everyone he knew. The graveside service will be at 12PM on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Seattle.
