John Jerome Glazier was born on February 27, 1938 to Watt and Frances Glazier. His twin brother William was born ten minutes later. Growing up in North Bend, Washington, he rode horses with his friends and family. John's horse was named Wampus and together they were active in the Snoqualmie Valley Riding Club.
John headed off to college at Central Washington University where he earned his BA in business and met his wife Sharon.
John and Sharon raised three sons together. Being an avid outdoorsman with three boys he naturally became involved with the Boy Scouts. With more than a little help from his wife John guided his three boys to the rank of Eagle Scout. John was the scoutmaster for Troop 466 for nearly ten years. He attended several National Scout Jamborees at Ft. AP Hill, Virginia as an adult leader. He continued to be involved in Scouting and was a Silver Beaver Award recipient for his many years of service to the Boy Scout youth program.
John's service to the community wasn't limited to Scouting. He served on the board for the Snoqualmie Valley Youth Activity Center as well as on the North Bend Planning Commission. He was a Mason and a life member of the National Rifle Association.
John was a patriot. With few exceptions, the 4th of July for John consisted of a celebration with friends and family on Camano Island with food, fireworks and a great beach fire. John had the tallest flag pole and the largest flag on Juniper Beach. When a steady breeze was blowing there was no doubt that John was proud to be an American. John voted!
Its hard to say if Independence Day or Christmas was his favorite holiday. John's Christmas trees and decorating were a sight to behold. Last minute shopping was a year round hobby.
Family and friends were important to John. Elk hunting with his friends, traveling to Bend, Oregon to visit his grandchildren, having coffee at Tweede's Cafe to visit with home town friends or coordinating a Boy Scout fund raiser event- John enjoyed people.
John passed away on October 29, 2012 with family at his bedside.
We're going to miss you Dad!
