John Turner was born in Seattle the 6th child of Alta and Bill Turner. He leaves behind his wife Nancy and four children, Linda Kolbo (Jim), Mike Turner, Nancy Jean Turner (Steve Shramm), and Diane Turner. Nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
John loved building and worked in construction before joining The Seattle Fire Department where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant. He continued construction projects during his twenty-two years with The Seattle Fire Department and after retiring went into the insulation business founding Puget Sound Insulation Co.
John enjoyed golf, fishing, boating, the home he built, his farm on San Juan Island and his family.
