Manolo Casis Munar, was born on July 17, 1946, in Pangasinan, Philippines. Manolo was known by different names by his closest friends and family: “Manny”, “The Godfather” and “Nolo” among other terms of endearment. He was raised in a beautiful home in the City of Quezon, outside of Manila. Manny graduated from UP High and came to Seattle on a student visa in 1967. There, he attended Seattle Central Community College where he met his best friend forever and life partner, his wife, Genevieve “Genny”. Manny and Genny were married in a small ceremony in north Seattle on November 5, 1969. Manny transferred to the University of Washington and earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and had a long, successful career at RW Beck in downtown Seattle. Manny and Genny, aka “Tweety” raised three daughters: Gina Marie, Lisa Marie, and Monica Marie. Genny would refer to their girls as the “The Tres Marias” with Manny smiling in agreement. Manny was known as “Papa” by his beloved grandchildren, Sofie Blue-sky and Mars Casis who love their Papa very much. Manny loved playing basketball, tennis, and ping-pong and he also loved watching all sports, especially our local teams: The Mariners, Sounders, and Seahawks. Manny was a world traveler; after moving to Seattle initially, he lived in Alaska, California, and Saudi Arabia. One special memory the family holds is when Manny took Genny and the girls to the Philippines for a family vacation in 1985 to meet his extended family and see his childhood home. It was the most enjoyable and memorable vacation they had together.
Manny is survived by his wife Genny, and three daughters Gina (Ed), Lisa, and Monica (Rick) and two grandchildren, Sofie and Mars; brothers Rene (Zorina) and Antonio “Tony” (Jenny). Also, by beloved in-laws, brothers: Larry, Jim, Tony and sisters Berta and Becky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Verbo and Corazón, brother, Ferdinand “Nandy” and sister-in-law, Lynda; mother-in-law, Mazie, brothers-in-law, Dale and Hector.
Manny will always be in our hearts.
