Maria Gener Mateo passed away peacefully on March 7, 2021 in Seattle, WA surrounded by her family. She was born April 20, 1932 in Manila, Philippines. After receiving her degree from the University of Santo Tomas, Maria married Diosdado Mateo, her soulmate and life partner. After they wed, Maria followed Diosdado to New London, Connecticut, where he was stationed in the Coast Guard. Shortly after, their children Gerard G. Mateo and Frances G. Mateo were born.
After moving around the country, Maria and her family settled in Seattle, WA, where she worked at a bank for several years before retiring and spending time taking care of her children. She loved to tend to her garden, cook delicious Filipino dishes, and spend time with family and friends.
Maria is survived by her children, Gerry and Frances, her son-in-law Buddy Bobadilla, and her two grandchildren, Katrina Mateo and Jeremy Mateo.
