

Marilynne Gayle Oien Monrad, 84, of Lynnwood, Washington passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025. Born on November 26, 1940, to Willard and Ione Oien, Mairlynne was raised by her loving parents on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle. She attended Coe School, Queen Anne High School and Brigham Young University. Marilynne was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, whose life was a radiant example of her deep faith, unwavering devotion to family, and passion for nurturing and serving others.
Marilynne’s profound spiritual strength guided her through life’s joys and challenges, inspiring those around her with her grace and compassion. She served faithfully and joyfully in a variety of church callings. Her boundless generosity shone through her donations to a multitude of charities, her enthusiastic support for every fundraiser, and always seeking to uplift those in need.
As the matriarch of her family, Marilynne created cherished traditions that brought loved ones together, from magical holiday celebrations filled with warmth and joy to crafting heartfelt, handmade gifts that became treasured keepsakes. Her home was a sanctuary of love, where she ran an in-home daycare, caring for countless children with boundless kindness and patience. Her nurturing spirit left an indelible mark on her community.
Marilynne felt a special bond with her grandparents and ancestors, often sharing stories of their lives that deepened her family’s sense of heritage and connection. As a devoted mother to five daughters and a doting grandmother, she treasured every moment with her family, offering unwavering support. Her legacy of compassion, generosity, and spiritual devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Marilynne was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Fred, with whom she shared a life filled with love and cherished memories, and her beloved daughter, Jody (Gordon). She is survived by her four daughters, Heidi (Steven), Lyn (Wendy), Marti (Paul), and Tracy (Jonathan); 29 grandchildren, with 3 on the way; sisters Ardyth and Lorene (Richard); brothers Keith (Nancy) and Ron (Janice); many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and the many friends who touched her life.
A private memorial service will be held by the family.
