Known throughout his beloved community as Mendez, he was one of the coolest and most supportive people around. No matter the distance, Mendez was always checking in, making connections, sharing new music, and brightening people's days with his humor. In Seattle, he was a cornerstone in the underground punk and metal scene. He published Thorozine for many years covering local bands. You could find Mendez in several Seattle mainstays: the Storeroom, Lake Union Pub, Gibson's, Lobo/Victory, or Zak's/Funhouse. Most recently, Mendez also organized and played in bar softball leagues and helped organize pinball tournaments at Shorty's and Jupiter in Belltown - where you could almost always find him. If you didn't know Mendez, you probably saw him around. Mark Loved his friends and family and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his mother Flora White, brother Michael White, sister Nicole, step sister Melanie Cardullo, aunt Laura, cousins Benito and Maria, a niece and six nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10am on April 4th at Block 41 in his beloved Belltown, and a Celebration of Life later that day held between Shorty's and Jupiter Bar from 3-7pm
The urn committal will be performed at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Shoreline, Washington on Saturday, April 5th at 9:00 am.
