Michael D. Wilkinson was born on April 1, 1950 to Worley "Bud" and Betty Wilkinson in Seattle. Passed away on June 4, 2013 in Lake Stevens, WA. Mike grew up in Shoreline, WA, and in his late teen years, joined the Merchant Marines for a year. Soon after he returned to solid ground he started his career at Beck Boats in Arlington, WA, as a fiberglass laminator. At the age of 22 he met and married Linda Davis and they raised 3 kids, and in 1987 they moved to Mountlake Terrace, WA where he lived until 2001. Mike worked at Boeing for 25 years as a painter at all three plants (Everett, Renton and Seattle), and loved his work, He retired in 2012. Mike was a lifelong member of F.E.A.R (Figure Eight Auto Racing) at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA. Where he raced and supported other racers for 42 years. He enjoyed all things motorsports and he even raced mini hydros for two years. He was an avid Seahawks and Mariner's fan. Most of all, Mike loved to spend his time with his children, Doug (Kimmi), Jessica and Rachael, as well as his grandkids Haylie & Dakota, whom where his pride and joy. Away from the racing world, some of his favorite times were spent watching all three of his children playing sports, taking his family boating on Lake Washington, old western movies, traveling, and he loved Seafair in Seattle, watching the hydros and air show. The only thing Mike loved almost as much as his family was his blue 1928 Ford. If ever you wanted to hear any old timer's stories of racing, Mike was the one with the best stories, which he loved to tell while playing a round (or 20) of poker.
Mike will forever be dearly missed, as he was loved by many. He is survived by his children Doug Wilkinson (Kimmi); Jessica Wilkinson and Rachael Wilkinson; grandchildren Haylie Wilkinson and Dakota Wilkinson; mother Betty Wegert; siblings Irene Anthony; Marilyn Bair; Scott Wilkinson (Diane); Cindy Sevruk (Bill); 18 nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Father Worley "Bud" Wilkinson, Step-Father Roger Wegert; brother Steven "Butch" Wilkinson; and nephew Ronald Davis.
