

Nellie Jewell Dunston, more commonly known as Jewell or "Nana" was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on July 26, 2017. She was born in Union, Washington on December 22, 1917 to parents Bert and Bertha Stanley. Jewell was the fourth of five girls and at the age of ninety nine years and seven months she outlived Lona, Dottie, Verna and Peggy. Their mother died when Jewell was two years old. Her father could not raise five girls on his own, so she was adopted by a Danish couple, Hans and Margaret Nielsen. Jewell and her adopted family spent two years living in Denmark. Upon returning to the USA her family moved to Renton, Washington where she graduated from Renton High School. Jewell attended business college, worked at a Coal Company in black Diamond and spent later years employed by Sound Oil Company in Seattle. Jewell married Gene Robinson with whom she had 3 children. Eventually she married Virgil Dunston and gained a stepson, Marshall, age 12. She enjoyed traveling which included trips around the Pacific Northwest, Disneyland, Hawaii, Washington DC and Virginia! Spending time with family and friends were very important to her, which is why she was so loved by everyone who knew her. She always said, "I just love, love, love my family so much!" She was also passionate about her faith in Jesus Christ. She was a prayer warrior praying daily for family, friends and the spiritual condition of our country. She was a longtime member of Westwood Christian Community in White Center. She lived out her faith daily, particularly by volunteering at the church's food and clothing outreach for many years! Jewell is survived by children, Sharon Ronnie (Sam) of SeaTac, Kathleen Town of Centralia, Steven Robinson (Michele) of East Wenatchee and Marshall Dunston of Seattle. She will also be missed by 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and companion and caregiver Paul Raymond. Graveside service will be on Saturday August 12th at 2 PM at Forest Lawn Cemetery 6701 30th AVE SW Seattle Memorial service and reception will be at 3 PM at Westwood Christian Community at 9252 16th AVE SW in Seattle.
