Pauline (Pene) was born in Seattle to Paul and Bertha Barnes. She was the middle daughter of the seven Barnes girls. She graduated from West Seattle H.S. in 1935 and continued on for her teaching certificate at Western Washington State College then worked on her Masters while still teaching. She married Roger A. Dudley, Jr., on July 11, 1942 in Chico, California, where Roger was stationed in the Army Air Corps. They were married for 61 years, until Roger passed away in 2003. They had been childhood neighbors in West Seattle and spent their lives together. Pauline taught first grade for 12 years at Arbor Heights Elementary School and was a respected teacher. She was a member of Glen Acres Golf Club where she once had a hole-in-one. She was an active golfer until her hands gave out and she really missed golfing. . She and Roger were also members of The Blenders Dance Club in Arbor Heights and that was a continuation of their trophy-winning dancing at the Trianon Ballroom in downtown Seattle when they were in their teens. Pauline played the organ on full volume in her living room and opened up all the doors so the neighbors could enjoy her music! She kept waiting for donations, but she did get applause – sometimes. She is survived by her three children - Karen Lavallee, West Seattle, Susan Dudley, Kenmore, and Terry Dudley (Erin), Edmonds. Four grandchildren: Cori McAllister Roed (Scott), Robert McAllister (Sharman), Anna and Carlyn Dudley and four great-grandchildren: Nicole and Conner Roed and Mikayla and Reece McAllister. Pauline will be greatly missed by her family, neighbors and many friends. A memorial service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, June 18th, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. Following the service there will be an Hawaiian-themed gathering at Glen Acres Golf Course where pu pus will be served. Hawaiian attire is welcome!
