He preceded his wife of 62 years, Margaret June Powers (who passed, June 4, 2021) and is survived by his children Julie and Michael. Richard was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. He graduated from Franklin High School, and received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Washington. After passing the bar exam in 1963, he worked for a year as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Kitsap County, and then spent four years as a Special Agent with the F.B.I., serving in the Phoenix and Denver offices. In 1968 he joined the Washington State Attorney General’s office and in 1969 entered private law practice specializing in real estate, business formations, and estate planning, mostly in Bellevue, Washington.
Richard had a wonderful sense of humor and wit, and was cherished as a devoted husband, father and friend. He had a huge heart, making sure others around him were always taken care of. He dearly loved his family and many friends, Husky football, and the law. He will be sorely missed.
