Robert B. (Bob) Fadden, RA, 78, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 28, 2025, while residing at Aegis Living of Ravenna. Bob was born December 26, 1946, to James R. and Bernice F. (Maas) Fadden in Cincinnati, OH. Beside his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his wife Marilyn, sister Ellen and her husband Albert Zaranka, and sister Clara Coniff. Bob is survived by his daughters Kathryn (Tyler) Simchuk and Alexandra Fadden and granddaughter Brooke Thompson, all of Seattle; his siblings, Peter (Irene) Fadden of Walworth, NY, Charles (Karen) Fadden of Hannibal, NY, Philip (Catherine) Fadden of Oswego, NY, Mary (Gregory) Mayotte of Hopewell Junction, NY, and Alice (Marta Sloper) Fadden of Homer, NY. Bob has three nieces, six nephews, nine grandnieces, and nine grandnephews.
Bob, besides Cincinnati, lived as a child in Malone, Volney, and Hannibal, NY, where he graduated from High School. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in physics at the State University of NY at Oswego, Bob was able to pursue his dream of becoming an Architect at the University of Oregon in Eugene. After graduation from architecture school, Bob went to Seattle where he worked for several firms before joining Lance Mueller & Associates, where he practiced until his retirement.
An avid skier, Bob met his wife Marilyn at the top of the Tye Mill chair lift at Steven’s Pass. He made several treks to his favorite mountains with friends and family over the years, and he even earned a coveted CMH Heli-Skiing “Million-Footer” ski suit. For several years, Bob was also active in sprint car racing in the Northwest, where he built, owned, and raced cars. He was a lifelong runner and member of the YMCA Running Club, and he and Marilyn hosted their lively annual holiday party for the better part of 2 decades. As his daughters became involved in youth soccer, Bob quickly signed up to become a soccer referee, eventually becoming a referee instructor and referee coach/assessor as well. His lifelong dedication to referee development was rewarded as the recipient of the 2020 Adult Referee of the Year Award. An inaugural Seattle Sounders FC season ticket holder, he rarely missed a home match, and was often sporting Rave Green in front of the television for away games. Bob took pride in his home and yard, and in his free time, he enjoyed maintaining them. Bob found enjoyment in a variety of hobbies and activities throughout his lifetime, but he was most proud of his family and the daughters he and Marilyn raised together.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Bob on September 14, 2025, in Seattle, WA.
Bob will be interred in a private ceremony at the convenience of the family.
