August 5, 1927 – April 13, 2025
Sophie Bruich Wallinder was born in the Iron Range town of Kinney, Minnesota. Her father, Rade, was a Yugoslavian born man. Her mother, Katie, was a Serbian American woman. Later, the family moved to Gary, Duluth, Minnesota, where her mother was raised. Sophie attended Denfield High School (where she met Keith Wallinder), and then St. Scholastica. After Keith and Sophie’s marriage they moved to Seattle, Washington and raised their two children. Sophie worked as a Medical Technologist in Seattle until she retired.
After retirement Keith and Sophie continued to be very active…golfing, tennis, bridge, and traveling. They loved to travel together, with friends, and family all over the world. Every year there was at least one trip made back to Minnesota to be with all the relatives.
Sophie is survived by her daughter, Sharon Wallinder France (Glen Young) and son, Gregg Wallinder (Rebecca); four grandchildren, Brian France (Luana), Allison France Tucker (Darren Tucker), Alyssa Wallinder (Beau Richards) and Kyle Wallinder; and one great grandson, Corbin France.
There will be an interment at Mount Tahoma National Cemetery where Keith and Sophie will rest in peace…once again together.
