Thomas Stiller died peacefully in the care of Wochner House Hospice. His spirit joins his parents (Al & Fay), his brother (Ed), and his dearly missed wife, Susan. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Catherine Stiller (Roger Jochim), and the extended Thomas and Jochim families.
Tommy was local boy. He was raised on Alki Beach in West Seattle. He graduated from WSHS and enlisted in the Air Force in 1968, and married Susan in 1969. Tom spent the next decade in the military, moving all around the American west and serving overseas. Knick-named “Baby Huey,” Tom was a helicopter mechanic with the 20th Special Operations Squadron, known as the Green Hornets, stationed at Cam Rahn Bay 70-71. He retired from service in ’79, and the family moved home to Seattle. After a short stint at Boeing, Tom went back to school and switched careers. He eventually retired from the VA Medical Center where he worked as a pharmacy technician.
His retirement was spent educating boaters and inspecting vessels with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, tutoring math students at Lafayette Elementary, building kayaks, playing music, and tinkering in his garage/workshop.
