Tito Pamplona Andrada was born on January 26, 1948 to Vicente and Rizalina Andrada in Sara, Iloilo, Philippines. He spent his childhood in Carles, Iloilo on their family farm. He graduated from Mindanao State University with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering. He joined the National Irrigation Administration after passing the board exam. He worked for the Ministry of Agriculture, Kano State, Nigeria in the 80's , where he met his wife, Mely Caparas Andrada of the Ministry of Education. They were married at St. Louis Church in Kano City in 1982. They migrated to the US in the Fall of 1986. He worked various odd jobs before being employed at an aerospace company.
Tito was a devoted husband and father. He volunteered as a chess coordinator at Leschi Elementary School. He taught Joy and Melissa how to play chess at early age and would sign them up for chess tournaments almost weekly with their childhood friends, the Sparks girls.
Tito taught them how to ride a bike and how to drive. He was supportive in all their school activities. When Joy and Melissa were young, as a family our weekend activity and be walking to the Central Library from our apartment to read and check out books. On Sundays we attended mass at Immaculate Conception Church, where we have been members since the fall of 1986. Tito was very proud of his family, especially his daughters, Joy and Melissa. He would visit them wherever they lived, including, London, New York and California.
As a husband, he was caring, supportive & a good provider.
Tito believed in sharing our Blessings to our families back in the Philippines. Each year we sent two Balikbayan Boxes to our families. He also supported the St. Vincent Seminary in Iloilo, Philippines. Tito had a soft heart to the less fortunate & would always try help.
His greatest joy was his only granddaughter, Tala Jeanne Whiles. Tito would FaceTime her twice daily to sing Filipino folk songs.
His interests included spending time with family, reading, outdoor walks, biking, Karaoke singing, chess, traveling & volunteering.
Tito passed away on December 4, 2020 in Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, CA.
He is survived by his wife, Mely, his two daughters, Joy & Melissa, his son-in law Jesse Whiles of California, only grandchild, Tala Jeanne Whiles, his siblings, Nemesio and Mary A. Besara based in Iloilo, nephews & nieces & their families. His sister Victoria A. Dignadice of San Francisco, CA preceeded him in his death.
