Angelo Anthony Andriani Sr.

Angelo Anthony Andriani Sr., age 83, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 27, from 1 – 5 PM at the Mack Memorial Home, 1245 Paterson Plank Rd, Secaucus, NJ, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday the 28th,10:45 AM at the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church. His cremation will be private. A resident of Secaucus for over fifty years, Angelo was born on October 24, 1938 in Hoboken, New Jersey to Italian immigrants, the late Columbio and Vincenzo Andriani of Molfetta Bari, Italy. He was very proud of his family’s Italian-American heritage.

A loving and devoted husband, Angelo is survived by his wife of 59 years, Norma (Barone) Andriani. He gave the greatest gift of love to his devoted children, Victoria Borrelli and her husband Thomas of Totowa, NJ; his son Angelo and his wife Kelly of Lincoln, CA; and his son Vincent and his wife Renée of Leawood, KS. He was the proud and loving “Pop Pop”/ “Poppa” to his six grandchildren, Maggie, Ellen, Joseph, Isabella, Olivia & Nico. they were all his Loves, and he put their needs first before his own.

He was a dear brother to Frank Andriani and his wife Dottie, and the late Sabino 'Andy' Andriani and his wife Carmella, and Brother-in-law to Victor Barone and his wife Julia of Weehawken, NJ, and Robert Barone and his wife Rosevita of Geissen, Germany.

A lifelong learner, Angelo received his Bachelor of Science from St. Peters College and his Master of Arts in Education from New Jersey State University. He was a School Teacher for 42 years for the Hoboken School District, where he taught Junior High and High School classes, and proudly served as a Member and Trustee on the Secaucus Board of Education for 20 years. He took pride in his role as a teacher of History and English, and was a mentor to many students – to know “Mr. A” was to love “Mr. A.” His colleagues from Hoboken were not only his co-workers, but a family of lifelong friends.

Angelo was a faithful and active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church, serving as an usher. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was honored by receiving their Family of the Year Award for 2012-2013. He was a volunteer for many other organizations and programs, enriching them with his generosity and kind spirit. He belonged to Secaucus Theatre groups, and enjoyed singing and acting in a number of town musicals. He loved watching and laughing along with The Honeymooners, and knew every line of each episode. He was quite the ham; in our eyes he stole the show, and his spirit will continue to perform in our memories, thoughts and hearts forever.

His home was the meeting place, and he always sat at the head of the table for the family traditions of Italian macaroni & gravy dinners every Sunday, as card playing and lots of laughter from family and friends filled our home. He especially sang faithfully to his Autistic grandson Nico, his number 1 groupie.

Angelo lived by example, teaching his family about having the right priorities in life – to be kind to others, help those in need, and to be forgiving and understanding. He was a very patient man who found the good in everyone. When his health started to decline, his spirit, courage and faith stayed strong. His greatest legacy will be as a devoted husband, loving father, proud brother, beloved Uncle to his many nieces and nephews, and a friend to many. Even while he was sick, he recognized and was thankful for the blessings in his life, and continued to live that life as best he could. He was a gentleman of unquestioned integrity and character. We lost the irreplaceable center of our family and light of our lives, but his faith, optimism and kindness will live on in our hearts forever. He leaves his family and friends beautiful memories to hold on to.

Although our hearts are broken, we will forever be grateful for having had such a wonderful husband and father, and will cherish the memories he has given us. We want to hold on to the way things are, but this is God’s plan. You taught us how to live and how to love, but not how to live without you. We will hold your spirit within us and cherish the privilege of being so loved by you. Forever in our hearts, and until we meet again.
