
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Charles C. De Palma, of Manhattan, NY and formerly of North Bergen, NJ. He passed away on Wednesday, April 16th, 2025, at Lennox Hill Hospital in NYC surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Union City, NJ on March 20, 1928, to the late Alfred and Florence De Palma lived in Union City and North Bergen NJ until he enlisted in the service. Army, Honorable from 1945-1948 and Air Force, Honorable from 1948 to 1952. He loved to travel and lived in Paris for several year, another city that he admired and enjoyed. Charles stayed active in the American Legion and built many relationships over the years.
Once he completed his time in the service, Charles moved to Manhattan where he had an antique store on Madison Ave selling and trading art and antiques throughout his lifetime. Charles had a special love for NYC and a passion for the arts.
Charles married Leonore Rothchield who passed in August of 1990 and was widowed.
Charles is survived by his 3 siblings, Alfred, Florence and Joseph De Palma and his 3 deceased siblings, Tommy, Lena and Grace De Palma. He did not have any biological children and remained close to his niece Michele Casazza Centeno and her family. He is also survived by his daughter Catherine Fraiture, and her children Pierre, Nikolai and Elizabeth and granddaughter Arya and Mimi their dog.
Charles will be laid to rest at a private ceremony on Saturday, April 26th, 2025, at Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst, NJ.
Charles will be remembered for his wit, humor, kindness and love of the arts and he will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
