

Ghislaine Darguste Nelson, affectionately known as “Lolotte” passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026. She was born in Cap-Haitian, Haiti, on June 21, 1936, and lived a long and fulfilling life defined by deep devotion to God and family.
Ghislaine was a woman of strength, grace, and unwavering faith. She loved God wholeheartedly and found joy in caring for her home and family through her steady hands and faithful heart. Ghislaine built a legacy rooted in love, discipline, and devotion. She was tough but loved deeply. She was straightforward, yet endlessly giving. She carried herself with dignity and was always dressed beautifully.
She was a great cook. Expressing her love to others through her Haitian dishes. Which became a tradition and a symbol of the warmth she shared with everyone who came into her home.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Villars Nelson. She is survived by her son, Herick (Sheila), her son, Ralph (grandchildren: Jasmyn (great-grandchild), Sharyn (great-grandchild), Emon, and Mariessa), and daughter, Pascale. Also, a host of family and friends whose lives were touched by her wisdom, strength, and unwavering love.
Visitation for Ghislaine will be held at Leber Funeral Home, located at 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ 07094, on March 7, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.
A funeral service will take place at St. Joseph and St. Michael Church, located at 1314 Central Avenue, Union City, NJ 07087, on March 7, 2026, starting at 11:15 am.
Following the funeral service, the committal service will be held at Holy Name Cemetery, 823 West Side Avenue, Jersey City, NJ 07306.
Ghislaine’s memory will be treasured by all who knew her.
