

John P. Keilp, former Member of the Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories, passed away in his home on October 22. Lifelong resident of Secaucus, John was a devoted husband and father and a devout Catholic. John was married to Catherine (Wisniewski) for almost 60 years. He is survived by 4 loving children, John G. Keilp and Carolyn Sikes-Keilp, Mark J. Keilp and Mary O’Sullivan, Judith C. Keilp, and Carol (Keilp) Tobin and John Tobin; 2 loving grandchildren Christopher and Dakota Sikes-Keilp; and two brothers, Alfred Keilp and Anthony Napierski, and a sister, Wanda Diehl.
John was a recipient of the Archdiocese of Newark’s Cathedral Golden Jubilee medal for dedication and distinguished service to the Church. He was a vital member of Immaculate Conception Church in Secaucus serving as a member and officer of the Holy Name society for over 50 years, running spelling bees, science fairs, and putting up the nativity crib. He also served as one of the first non-clergy Eucharistic Ministers and as a member of the parish council. He was a daily communicant and had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother and the Rosary.
During his career at Bell Laboratories, John was awarded a patent for magnetic drum manufacturing in 1980. He also worked on Telstar I. He received his Masters degree from Farleigh Dickenson University. John was a WWII veteran and Boy Scout troop leader. He was an avid boater, woodworker, and loved the outdoors.
The family will receive guests at Mack Memorial home in Secaucus on Thursday, October 24th, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Secaucus at 10 am on Friday, October 25th.
