Margarita Emanuele

Fifth child of Jose Echevarria (d. 2004) and Manuela Echevarria (d. 2001), Margarita grew up in Lima, where she attended grade school and high school. She left Peru at the age of 25 and made her way to New Jersey where she lived ever since. She married in 1984, settled in Jersey City, and had two children. She was a loving mother, wife, sister and aunt and loved cooking, arts and crafts, and discussing Peruvian politics. Margarita was a fearless woman who lived her life with spunk and joy. She was always impeccably dressed and made an entrance wherever she went. She would tell us all to take every opportunity we could and make bold choices.

Survived by husband, Willy, children Carla (Justin) and Willie, sisters Lucila and Alicia Echevarria, and nieces Manuela (David) and Rose (Ted), and a great-niece and nephew. She is also survived by four other siblings.

Margarita’s wake will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 at the Leber Funeral Home in Union City between 5pm and 9pm. Mass and burial will be held on Saturday, December 28 at St. Augustine’s Church in Union City at 10am.
