Marie Rose Ciampi (nee LoSasso) passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on February 12, 2026, at the age of 96. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marie or “Bootsie,” as she was called by her family and close friends, will be remembered for her selfless devotion to her family, her positive attitude, strength and energy, her warmth toward everyone she met, and her great sense of humor.
She was born on December 26, 1929, to the late Philip and Rose (Gaeta) LoSasso in Hackensack and grew up in Union City, helping to raise her three younger siblings. She graduated from Emerson High, landed her first job in NYC as a secretary at Metropolitan Life, and then met and married the love of her life, Vincent Ciampi, also from Union City. The couple lived in North Bergen before buying a home in Secaucus in 1961, where together they raised four children.
For many years before retiring in 2003, Marie was the co/owner of Smart Men’s Shop in the Secaucus Plaza and then Pellegrino’s Candy Store in Mill Creek Mall with her husband Vincent.
Marie was quick to make friends, as others were attracted to her warmth and caring spirit. She remembered the names and stories of those she met even if only once before and had a way of making everyone feel important and special. Her hobbies included bowling (she was one of the best!), cooking (also one of the best, winning prizes numerous times in the Hudson Dispatch Annual Cooking Contests!), gardening, and besting her husband and kids at card games. She was a loyal and enthusiastic New York Yankees fan, and she enjoyed frequent jaunts to Atlantic City with her husband and life-long best friends, Kay and Lenny Matarazzo.
Recently celebrating 75 years of marriage, Marie was the adored wife of Vincent Ciampi. She was the beloved mother of Diane Pierce and her husband Brian, Linda Korycinski and her husband Richard, Nancy Ciampi, and Thomas Ciampi and his wife Isabel; Devoted grandmother of James Korycinski and his wife Katherine, Kerri Maraldo and her husband Peter, and Nicholas Ciampi; Cherished great grandmother of Taylor Korycinski, Camryn Korycinski, Kylie Korycinski, James Korycinski, Gianna Maraldo, Alessia Maraldo, and Peter Maraldo; Loving sister of Jim LoSasso and his wife Monica, the late Phyllis Palazzo, and the late Margaret Zurawski; Marie is also survived by her special long-term caregiver Mhoy Perez and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, neighbors, and friends.
Visitation will be held at Mack Memorial Home, located at 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ on Wednesday, February 18th, from 8:45am to 9:45am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 1219 Paterson Plank Rd, Secaucus, NJ at 10am, Her Cremation will follow privately.
