Stephen was born on April 20, 1952, in Hoboken, New Jersey. He was the beloved son of William Hogan Sr. and Angela (Carluccio) Hogan. He grew up in Union City, New Jersey. He attended St. Joseph Grammar School, where he met his future bride. He attended Emerson High School, for which he was proud to play for the Bulldogs. He continued his education at Jersey City State College (New Jersey City University) from which he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science.
Stephen worked for Tops Appliance City for a while but found his true calling to be a teacher. Stephen taught religion at St. Mary High School until he retired. Always strong in his faith, Stephen spent years of his life acting in, directing, and writing plays for the Veronica’s Veil Theatre Guild in Union City, New Jersey. With each and every performance, Stephen made sure his cast brought the word of God to life in the most beautiful way. Stephen will always be remembered for his bright smile that would light up any room he entered, his love of Doo Wop music, for which he was known to pull anyone and everyone onto the dance floor. He had a laugh that was contagious. He was a human toy for his grandchildren and nieces and nephews, and every furry creature that he encountered. Everyone who knew him loved him. There was no greater Yankees or Giants fan, than Stephen. He watched every game as he played every game, with his whole heart.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Bridget (Aversa) Hogan, of over 49 years and his 4 loving children: Bridget Ann Hogan, Natalie (Hogan) and Brian Rivieccio, Stephanie (Hogan) and Oscar Ortega, Martin Hogan and his wife Kathy Leung.
