Theresa E. Andreula (nee Mezzina), age 92, passed away on December 29, 2025. She was born on December 10, 1933 to the late John Mezzina and Paula Mezzina (nee Mongelli) in Hoboken, NJ. After the early loss of her mother, Theresa was raised by her father and his second wife, Angelina (nee Vitulano) Mezzina, who together provided a loving home for Theresa and her brother, Joseph Mezzina.
A longtime resident of Secaucus, NJ, Theresa began her professional life as a talented seamstress in the local garment industry. After the birth of her three children, she dedicated herself to her home as a committed full-time mother, later returning to the workforce as a salesperson at Fashion Mate clothing outlet in Secaucus once her children reached adulthood.
Theresa was the loving wife of the late Nicholas Andreula who passed away in 2005, the devoted mother of the late Maryann Rivelli who passed away in 2009 (and her husband Vincent), Joseph Andreula (and his wife Santez), and John Andreula (and his wife Joyce); and cherished grandmother of Ralph Rivelli (and his wife Melanie), Nicholas Rivelli (and his wife Stefanie), Alyssa Delgado (and her husband Alex), and Nicholas Andreula (and his girlfriend Samantha Donovan); beloved great grandmother (“GG”) of Vincenzo (“Vinnie”) Rivelli, Vincenzo (“Enzo”) Rivelli, Addison Delgado and Alexander Delgado; sister of Joseph Mezzina (and his wife Nancy); and is predeceased by her sister-in-law Arlene Mezzina. She is also survived by many loving extended family members and friends.
Theresa lived life to the fullest as the devoted matriarch of her family, a role she embraced with deep passion and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of those she loved. Though she endured significant hardships throughout her life, she remained the steadfast foundation of her family, keeping the family bond solid through good times and bad. Her upbeat outlook on life always made the most difficult situations bearable.
She was a woman of profound faith and a long-standing parishioner of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church.
As a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Theresa found her ultimate joy in caring for her family and home. She was famous for her Sunday sauce, Christmas Eve dinner, chicken soup, stuffed peppers, and breaded shrimp and clams. She loved her pasta, chocolate-peanut butter ice cream and the New York Yankees (rarely ever missing an inning).
Theresa stayed joyfully immersed in the lives of her relatives, maintaining especially close ties with her brother and cousins of whom she loved so dearly. She spent countless hours with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren creating crafts, playing games, and sharing family recipes and stories from generations past.
Theresa leaves behind a legacy of resilience, commitment to family, patience, unconditional love, tradition, and faith that will be forever honored by the many people she touched. Her big heart, gratitude, generosity, and selflessness were unparalleled. Up to her passing moment at the age of 92, Theresa was fully independent and living on her own. She was truly an angel in disguise and no words can ever express how much she will be missed.
A visitation for Theresa will be held at Mack Memorial Home, located at 1245 Paterson Plank Road, Secaucus, NJ on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 2 to 6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 10:45 am at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 1219 Paterson Plank Rd, Secaucus, NJ followed by her burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Rd, North Arlington, NJ.
