He was born and raised in Secaucus, NJ. He always told stories of his great childhood with his brother Ken (age 99) playing baseball, going to Lake Hopatcong, and catching muskrats in the swamps. When he was 16, he wanted to join the Airforce to fight for our country so badly that he told the recruiters he was 17. After spending four years in Okinawa, Japan, he returned to the U.S. to work as a postal carrier in Secaucus where he spent 38 years knowing everyone in town and their address. The best part of his job in Secaucus is that it allowed his children to see him throughout the day and for him to participate in their sports and other activities. He never missed a game or event. Part of his love of sports included the horse track where he enjoyed a day out at the races with his son and his son’s friends. During the last 7 years, his greatest pleasure and best friend was Ned, his mini-Labradoodle.
When he wasn’t in Secaucus, he traveled south to Naples, Florida with his wife Jaye for the winter and spent time at the beach, at the pool and with his Naples friends.
He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Jeanette; he is survived by his three children and their spouses; Beth and Keith Reidel; James and Carmela Lawrence; and Dyan and Andy King, six grandchildren (Allyson, Steven, Erik, Jason, Julie and Tommy), four great grandchildren and many friends and extended family.
He was a kind soul that truly cared about the people in his life and wanted to be sure everyone was happy.
