

SHAWNEE, Okla. — Geneva Ransom-Eddy, 92, of Oklahoma City passed away Sunday, Aug. 15. She was born Dec. 30, 1917 in Drumright to A.F “Fred” and Dora J. McElrath Helms. She was a graduate of St. Benedicts HS and Cheatam's Business College, both in Shawnee.
She was married to Jack L. Ransom in 1948 in Bartlesville, and to this marriage two children were born, Jack and Janet. Geneva stayed by Jack's side until his death in 1970. She was later married to Ronald C. Eddy in 1989 in Tulsa and they were together until his death in 2003.
Geneva worked for Tinker Air Force Base in the 1940's and also served as the Activities Director for the Senior Citizens Center in Shawnee during the 1980's. She was a faithful member of Wallace Avenue Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands Jack L. Ransom and Ronald C. Eddy; one sister, Juanita Schabel; and one brother, Marvin “Buddy” Helms.
She is survived by one daughter, Janet Ruth Ransom-Fedor and husband Tom; and one son, Jack Linzy Ransom Jr. and wife Laura; three granddaughters, Jana Ransom, Kerry Harding and husband Jeff, and Loren Ransom; one nephew, Robert Helms; two nieces, Judith Schabel Loop and Rebecca Schabel Neira; as well as her best friend of 50 plus years Betty Hight.
Service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at the Resthaven Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Quail Ridge Assisted Living Center and Centennial Hospice of Oklahoma City.
