

She attended school in Tecumseh. She met Carl Haley on a blind date Halloween night in 1940. The fell in love and were soul mates for 54 years. They were married July 16, 1941. Irene was a member of the Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church for 75 years. One man of the church called her the apple pie lady as she would make them for church dinners.
Irene was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In 1960, she went to work at Hamburger King for Willa and Bill Macsas. Through the years instead of employers they became like family. In 1970, she went to work for the Shawnee Schools cafeteria.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl Haley; sisters: Eva Ray, LaVella Zimmerman, and Inez Thomason; brother, Humbert Hunt; and son-in-law, Jimmy Cearley.
She is survived by children: Marsha Brown (Benny), Beverly Cearley, and Victor Haley (Cecyle); grandchildren: Keith Brown (Stacy), Carlene Smith (Dan), Carla Cearley, Jennifer Sevigny (Gabe) and Jeffrey Haley (Lynda); great grandchildren: Elizabeth Dean (Josh), Trevor and Ty Smith, Grant, Payton and Roman Sevigny, Sawyer and Garret Haley; great grandson, Cooper Dean; brother, Everett “Buddy” Hunt (Euleta); and sister-in-law, Cora Lee Hunt.
Visitation will be held 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 13, 2017 at Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Ron Baldridge officiating. Interment will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.
