

Jeannette Mary (Correa) Jurinek, 54, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 14, 1960 in West Point, New York to Reginald Correa and Joan (Blewett) Correa. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 2 pm at Bill Eisenhower Southeast Funeral Home in Del City, Okla. The family requests attendees wear only bright colors to the service. Jeannette graduated from James I. O’Neill High School in Highland Falls, NY in 1978 and gave birth to her daughter, Sara Marie in 1984. A single parent for a large part of her daughter’s childhood, she would later graduate with a technical degree from the Central Academy of Beauty Culture, in Vails Gate, NY. She worked in civilian service for more than 30 years, for the Army at the United States Military Academy at West Point, and later for the Air Force at Tinker Air Force Base, often working several odd jobs at a time to make ends meet. She retired in 2012, as Division Secretary for PKX, contracting division, at Tinker AFB.It was at Tinker where Jeannette would meet Dennis “Jay” Jurinek, who became her friend and later the love of her life. After dating for nearly two years, Dennis and Jeannette were married October 9, 2004 at the Gold Penny Inn, in Guthrie, Okla surrounded by a small group of family and friends. Jeannette was diagnosed with Stage 1 Triple Negative Breast Cancer in early 2013. She fought courageously for more than two years, enduring numerous surgeries, eight different rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. She was the epitome of the word “fighter,” displaying a strength that was admired by everyone who had the privilege of meeting her, never giving up and always using her battles to encourage others. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joan, and grandparents Katherine (Germinaro) Blewett, Frank Blewett, Mary (Silva) Correa and Antone Correa.She is survived by her loving husband, Dennis Jurinek of Tecumseh, Okla.; daughter, Sara Lorenzen of Edmond, Okla.; Father, Reginald Correa, of Baltimore, MD; sisters, Mary Kay Magalhaes (and husband Eduardo) or Baltimore, MD, Sharon Takala (and husband Bruce) of Albuquerque, NM, and Toni Chan (and husband John) of Cary, NC; beloved nieces Soraya Magalhaes Willson (and husband David) of Sykesville, MD, Shannon Harrison (and husband Chad) of Dover, Delaware, Betania Magalhaes Rechen (and husband Todd) of Parksville, MD, Adriane Callinan (and husband Sean) of Albuquerque, NM, Jennifer Brock (and husband Landon) of Charleston, SC, Tiffany Gregory (and husband John) of Cary, NC, and Alicia Chan of Cary, NC. As well as numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins, “adopted” children, and friends.The family would also like to say a special thank you to Dr. Wajeeha Razaq and her wonderful co-workers and staff at the Stephenson Cancer Center at OU, the staff at St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee, Okla., and the staff of Loving Care Home Health and Hospice in Shawnee, for the wonderful care she received even into her last moments. Jeannette always used her experience and personal struggles to help others and the family would like to honor her memory in the same way.
