Linda Cook

Linda was born on August 5, 1931, in Farris Township, Stone County, Arkansas, to Earnie and Destie (Ballentine) George. She grew up and attended school in Okemah, Oklahoma, where she later graduated.

On July 17, 1954, Linda married the love of her life, Alton Cook of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Together, they shared 53 years of marriage and raised five children. Their marriage was built on love, grit, and commitment and remained strong until Al’s passing in 2008.

Linda lived in Shawnee for more than 40 years before moving to Pearce, Arizona, in 2010. In true Linda fashion, she eventually decided Shawnee was where she belonged and returned in 2021 to spend her remaining years surrounded by family.

She worked in the food service industry for most of her adult life. Her final two jobs included working at Wendy’s in the early 1980s, followed by more than 30 years at Braum’s, where she remained until her retirement in 2010. She was known for her strong work ethic, dependability, and for never being afraid of hard work.

Linda enjoyed fishing, camping, garage sales, thrift stores, and trips to the casino. She loved taking old afghans apart and turning them into yarn balls so her daughter-in-law, Linda, could reuse them. Nothing went to waste on her watch—if it could be reused, she already had a plan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnie and Destie George; her husband, Alton Cook; her daughters, Cindy Norris and Debbie Acebo; and her sister, Lorene Goode.

She is survived by her children: son Kenny Cook (Linda) of Pearce, Arizona; daughter Shelley Hernandez (Nati) of Douglas, Wyoming; daughter Anita Roberson (Archie) of Shawnee, Oklahoma; and son-in-law Jerry Acebo of Shawnee, Oklahoma. She also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews—each of whom knew exactly who was in charge.

Pallbearers will be Greg Vrooman III, Cameron Horton, Josh Slate, Dillon Gregory, Cayden Gregory, Mason Gregory, Haden Gandy, and Devon Lam. Honorary pallbearers are Alexavier Winrow and Braedyn Winrow.

And finally, Linda leaves us with her famous words—said with confidence and zero hesitation:

“I got it!”

A visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, located at 44909 Highway 3, Shawnee, OK 74801, on January 29, 2026, from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.

The funeral service will take place at the same venue on January 30, 2026 at 10:00 am.

The committal service will follow at Garden Grove Cemetery, located at Ew 110, Prague, OK 74864, on January 30, 2026.
